Manchester United vs Everton includes Alex Telles

Manchester United have stayed at The Lowry Hotel ahead of their Saturday lunchtime trip to Everton to avoid rioting in Merseyside.

United checked into their usual pre-game base for home games on Friday night after encountering problems while staying at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool’s Stanley Dock.

The team was previously woken by a fire alarm during a stay at The Titanic and Liverpool fans once set off fireworks outside the hotel to disrupt players’ sleep. United has not used The Titanic since 2018-19 and stayed at The Lowry prior to both trips to Merseyside last season.

United have added Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles to their provisional squad. The MEN revealed this Friday morning that Telles has returned to training after recovering from the coronavirus and the Brazilian could make his debut in the Premier League this weekend.

Lindelof was an unused substitute due to a back injury in United’s midweek loss to Istanbul Basaksehir, where his central colleague Axel Tuanzebe was replaced at halftime by midfielder Scott McTominay.

The 26-year-old Lindelof suffered from back problems last season but only missed three Premier League games and has improved his form over the past month after a tight start to the season.

“We have not lost any on the trip to Istanbul,” Solskjaer said. “Same group, same squad. Alex [Telles] He has started training with us, which is good. Victor still has the problem he has been struggling with. It will have to be checked tonight at the hotel.

“It is the same team as before Istanbul.”

Everton won their first four games of the season but have not won since the October internationals, losing at Southampton and Newcastle after drawing a creditable home draw against Liverpool.

Despite taking just one point out of the last nine, Everton remain fourth in the Premier League table and just three points behind leaders Liverpool. Solskjaer was impressed by Carlo Ancelott’s impact.

“The whole team, the setup, when Carlo arrived, they know that he is a coach that everyone admires: players, coaches, us coaches, he has had a fantastic career,” added Solskjaer. “And you start taking a look over there.

“They didn’t have a very, very good period after the restart, maybe they had a bit of a struggle. But now you can see what he’s been working on, he’s had a good preseason, he probably used the restart to look at his team and was impressed. .

“Of course Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a part of that and it’s an integral part of his game.”

Mason Greenwood was not seen at the hotel.
