Man Arrested After “Remarkable” Teen Stabbed in Manchester | UK News

The family of a 16-year-old who was stabbed to death paid tribute to their “remarkable” son.

Alexander John Soyoye died after being stabbed in Manchester on Thursday night.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to hospital with apparent stab wounds.

Alexander John Soyoye, known as John, was pronounced dead on Birchenall Street, Moston, despite the best efforts of paramedics.

In a statement, John’s family said he was an “extraordinary man who was full of energy, intelligence and love.”

“His energy was felt by everyone who knew him.

“He was smart, loving and friendly and we will miss him, but they will remember him.”

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Clitherow said the incident was believed to be a “targeted attack” and asked witnesses to come forward.

He said: “First of all, we want to express our deepest condolences to the family of this young man whose life has been tragically taken away.

“All our thoughts are with them as they try to come to terms with this devastating loss and we have a dedicated team of officers around them to support them.

“We believe that this has been a targeted attack and we trust that there are people who know what happened or know the identity of those involved.

“Any information could prove vital to our investigation, so please do the right thing and submit the information through the public major incident portal.

“This young man’s family deserves justice and we need the help of the community to locate those involved.”
