All the occupants managed to escape the fire and one man was left in the care of the ambulance service after being treated for smoke inhalation.

Sadly, three domestic pets died in the fire.

A spokeswoman for the service said: “A fire investigation has been carried out on the property and it has been confirmed that it was due to a firework through the mailbox which then spread to a neighboring property.

“All the occupants left before our arrival. An adult man was treated for smoke inhalation before being handed over to the ambulance service.

“A dog and two cats were found dead on the property.”
