Deaths from CORONAVIRUS have increased by 378 and cases in 24,141 on the first day of England’s second national blockade.
New restrictions were introduced across the country today after the prime minister was warned of thousands of deaths a day in mid-December, although today’s figures show the second wave appears to flatten out.

Cases reported today rose from 23,065 on the same day last week, an increase of just 1,076.
At one point, the government warned that new cases could continue to double each week, although fears remain that the spread of the virus could accelerate as winter weather approaches.
Today’s figures bring the total number of deaths in the UK to 48,120 and the total number of cases to 1,123,197.
In England, 21,137 new cases of coronavirus were registered, bringing the total number registered since the start of the pandemic to 955,236.
297 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total to 42,433.
In Wales, 1,272 more cases were reported today, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 56,927.
Public Health Wales reported another 30 deaths, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 1,969.
Scotland has recorded 39 deaths and 1,216 positive tests in the last 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon said.
The Prime Minister said the death toll has risen to 2,966.
Despite some flattening of the second wave, 25,177 cases were recorded yesterday, the third highest daily increase since the start of the pandemic.
However, cases have dropped in most of London.
New positive tests for Covid have fallen in 19 of the 32 districts, official figures show.
LOCKDOWN 2.0
The prime minister ordered the country to “stay home” for four weeks starting Thursday, November 5, in a new effort to “protect the NHS and save lives.”
Britons can only leave home to go to school, work, medical reasons, exercise, shopping or to provide care for the vulnerable.
Pubs and restaurants have closed, but are allowed to continue making takeout and delivery.
It comes as:
- England entered a second national lockdown today, with nonessential shops, restaurants, gyms and pubs closed
- The prime minister will give a national update with a press conference at 5pm today with Simon Stevens from the NHS
- The Bank of England today injected an additional £ 150bn into the economy through quantitative easing, saying the economy would suffer a 2% hit on GDP as a result of more lockdown rules.
International travel is prohibited during the blackout period, except for work reasons.
The Prime Minister delivered a speech to the Commons on the new guidelines on November 2.
He will “seek to ease” restrictions and return to the three-tier local lockdown approach, although he can be extended if necessary.
Rishi Sunak has extended the license again until the end of March 2021, he revealed today.
The chancellor confirmed that the people will receive 80 percent of their salary, after the plan continued as a result of the blockade across England.
It means that the plan will have been running for almost a year by the time it is due to end and will cost billions of pounds more.
And it’s a sign that ministers think the light at the end of the tunnel won’t come until spring, and that a bleak winter is coming for the nation.
