Donald Trump is “alive and well” as he prepares to take legal action to stop some charges and question the results on key battlefields that he is projected to lose, his team said.
The US president’s campaign manager gave an update on his tactics and claimed that Americans had lost faith in democracy.
He reiterated unsubstantiated allegations that Democrats were cheating and stealing the United States Election, while the ballots are classified into five knife-edge races they are still too close to call.
Live updates as elections are still too close to call
None Mr trump neither Joe biden they have still obtained the vital 270 votes from the Electoral College necessary to secure them the keys to the White House, but the result is approaching.
The incumbent Republican is ahead in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, while Biden leads in Arizona and Nevada.
But as ballots are counted in batches, those thin margins could shrink even further, or cause one candidate to outperform the other.
Momentum appears to be behind Biden, who is winning the popular vote and just shy of the 270 Electoral College votes needed to secure the presidency, out of 253.
Trump currently has 214 votes in the electoral college.
He had demanded election administrators “stop the count” in Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Georgia, and has claimed a “great legal victory” after his campaign said they obtained a court order in Philadelphia to enter a count to observe it.
“All the states that Biden recently claimed will be legally challenged by us for electoral fraud and state electoral fraud,” he promised in a tweet, again without providing evidence.
In Nevada, his campaign declared at a press conference that “the system is corrupt.”
They featured one resident, Jill Stoke, who claimed to have been the victim of voter fraud and another who said she was denied access to see how the ballots were counted, but all refused to answer questions or verify those accounts.
A registrar later said that contrary to Ms Stoke’s assertions, she had actually already voted and then tried to vote again.
The Trump campaign has also missed a legal attempt to stop the counting in Michigan, a state Republicans are already predicted to lose and where 99% of the vote has been counted.
Biden’s team has dismissed the large-scale fraud allegations as “unfounded” and “political theater.”
An adviser, Bob Bauer, said: “It is to create an opportunity to send false messages about what is happening in the electoral process … This is part of a larger disinformation campaign.”
Gabriel Sterling, director of Georgia’s electoral system, asked for patience, saying that people should remain calm and wait for officials to finish their work.
“The speed is excellent and we appreciate it; we value the precision more,” he said.
“Accuracy will be the basis on which people will believe the results of this election, whether on the winning side or the losing side.”
A result is expected to be announced later Thursday, but could be further delayed if a recount is made.
In Nevada, no further results are expected until Friday.
If Biden changes Pennsylvania’s high-value target, then he would cross the 270 line and not need to rely on the other races left in smaller states.
