Vote count for 2020 The US elections are underway after millions of Americans lined up to endorse Republican President Donald Trump or Democrat Joe Biden.

Candidates are fighting to secure 270 electoral seats in the House of Representatives.

Although Joe Biden took the lead, changing states like Pennsylvania have yet to announce their important results, so the presidency remains everyone’s game.

But could there be a tie and what if Trump and Biden tie?

What happens if none of the candidates gets 270 marks? It’s possible?

It is unlikely, but not impossible. There has never been a tie before.

There are a total of 538 voter seats in the electoral college, which can be divided into 269-269.

A tie would mean that both candidates would have obtained 269 electoral votes.

Or independent parties may win some votes, which could mean Republicans and Democrats tie.

What if the US election is a tie?

In the result of a tie, the House of Representatives chooses who will be the next president with a ballot, called a contingent election.

The representative from each of the 50 states gets one vote regardless of size and the winner is chosen.

Since 50 is an even number, there could also be a tie after this vote. In that case, the House of Representatives continues to vote until there is a winner.

They will continue to vote until January 2021, when Donald Trump would be forced to resign if they have not made a decision yet.

The 20th Amendment of 1933 specifies that the four-year terms of both the president and vice president will end at noon on January 20 following an election year.

The Congressional Research Service stated in a report in March 2020 that: “ There are no statutory provisions that allow a president to remain in office after this date, even in the event of a national emergency, unless ratified. a new constitutional amendment. ‘

This means that Donald Trump would not be allowed to remain as president after this date, without major amendments to the constitution.

If the courts and the university are unable to select a new president, then House Speaker, currently Democrat Nancy Pelosi, would become interim president until further elections are scheduled.

Pelosi would have the same power and responsibilities as a normal president until a new one is re-elected.
