A man and a woman were arrested after a police chase near Sefton Park.
The incident began around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, when officers spotted a BMW they suspected had been stolen and was driving erratically on Park Road in Dingle.
They chased the vehicle, resulting in a police chase around Sefton Park, Allerton and Hunts Cross, before the car was abandoned in Speke.
Two people were detained nearby and a hammer was later found inside the car, police said.
A 23-year-old Orrell Park man was arrested on suspicion of robbery, aggravated vehicle seizure, dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was also arrested in connection with a number of other offenses, including disqualified driving, failure to stop, failure to provide a sample, and use of threatening words / behavior.
A 20-year-old Fazakerley woman was also arrested on suspicion of robbery, aggravated burglary, dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Both have been taken to a police station for questioning while investigations into the incident continue.

Matrix Chief Inspector Tony Jones said: “This was excellent work that involved several officers and was ably assisted by our dog unit.
“We are committed to ensuring that those we believe are driving dangerously on our roads are stopped as quickly and as safely as possible.
“Those arrested will now be questioned in connection with a number of crimes.”
