Images taken from the scene of an incident in Chelmsford show the scale of the large ongoing police operation.

Moulsham Street is currently closed between the Bay Horse Pub and the Parkway junction.

The incident is understood to have occurred last night or in the early hours of this morning when Essex police officers rushed in and erected a cordon near The Bay Horse pub.

Members of the public first noticed the cordon around 9 a.m. this morning (Sunday, November 1) and officers are still present.

A police van is parked near that junction, while a number of other vehicles are scattered around the rest of Moulsham Street.

People are urged to stay out of the area and use alternative routes around the city.

Videos and photographs taken on the scene show officers standing at each end of the cordon to ensure officers are not disturbed while working.

However, the scene is relatively quiet and some people can be seen talking to the officers.

Pictures of Parkway show drivers are unable to turn onto Moulsham Street and there is a large police van blocking the entrance.

Signs, cones and tape are blocking the route along the highway and the side streets to Moulsham Street have also been partially blocked by the cordon.
