Parts of Cheshire will be hit by heavy rain as a yellow weather advisory is issued for the area.

The Met Office confirmed Saturday that the warning would be in effect through Monday, as rains are expected throughout the weekend.

People in affected areas have been told that the rain could cause flooding and damage some buildings.

There is also a possible danger to life due to the fast flow and deep flooding.

Cheshire Police also issued a warning to people in the area, saying: “Much of the county is under a yellow weather warning from the Met Office for rain this weekend (and through Monday).

“If you are on the roads, be careful, drive according to conditions and allow more time for your trip.”

Periods of heavy rain are expected to hit Wales and North West England through Sunday, increasing the risk of flooding.

What to expect

  • Homes and businesses could flood, causing damage to some buildings.
  • Deep or fast-flowing flooding may occur, which could be life-threatening
  • There may be delays or cancellations in train and bus services
  • Splashes and flooding can cause difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Some communities can be cut off by flooded roads
  • Possible power outages and loss of other services in some homes and businesses.
