More than 560,000 people contracted coronavirus in England last week and the number of infections rose sharply among high school children, figures from the Office for National Statistics suggest.

New coronavirus cases increased by around 51,900 in England each day last week, according to ONS estimates.
This is 47% more than 35,200 new cases per day for the October 10-16 period.
The ONS Infection Survey estimated that 568,100 people had COVID-19 in England between October 17 and 23, up from 433,300 the previous week.
The numbers also show that there has been an increase in cases across all age groups over the past two weeks, with older teens and young adults having the highest rates today.
Rates appear to be rising sharply among high school kids.
The highest rates of COVID-19 infection among people in England continue to be seen in the North West, Yorkshire and The Humber.
Rates remain high for the Northeast as well, but have now stabilized and there is now a larger gap with the other two northern regions.
