Barcelona mocked Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo by suggesting that fans got to see the real ‘GOAT’ in action Wednesday night: Lionel Messi.
Soccer fans around the world were bitterly disappointed after Juve’s talisman Cristiano Ronaldo was ruled out of the clash after testing positive for coronavirus.
Fans were desperate to see Messi and Ronaldo face off once again to rekindle what has arguably become soccer’s greatest rivalry.
But it wasn’t like that, and the LaLiga team certainly irritated some Juve fans after their 2-0 win.
Barcelona tweeted: “We’re glad you got to see the real goat (emoji) in your field, @juventusfcen! “
Messi did disappoint in the game. The Argentine ace prepared Ousmane Dembélé for Barça’s first in 14 minutes before sealing the victory for his team with a penalty in injury time.
Juventus, however, could be considered very unlucky in the clash, as Álvaro Morata strangely scored an unprecedented hat-trick of goals offside.
After the match, Italy icon Christian Vieri summed up what most of us felt about Messi.
“Lionel Messi is the Harry Potter of football,” he said. “When I stop playing, I’ll throw away my TV.”
