Nottinghamshire stores will be prohibited from selling alcohol after 9pm once the Level 3 restrictions are imposed.

The controversial move, which was rumored yesterday by Rushcliffe City Council leader Simon Robinson, has now been confirmed by local authorities and the government.

It comes as the terms of Level 3 were finally announced on Wednesday, October 28, after a ridiculous night of further delays and uncertainty as the government sought to rethink its measures and include the entire county.

In a statement from all Nottinghamshire councils, it is stated: “Sales of alcohol should be prohibited after 9:00 PM when alcohol is purchased for consumption off the premises, for example in shops.

“Alcohol can continue to be bought in the hotel and catering establishments, where it will accompany a hearty meal, until 10 at night.”

This is an additional measure decided by the municipalities in addition to the Level 3 proposals of the Government.

It was rumored by Councilman Robinson, who raised the fear that the standard Level 3 restrictions set by the government would not go far enough to stop the spread of the virus.

Venues may only sell alcohol if they also serve a “large meal”, as stated in the terms: “All hospitality venues (cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and social clubs) may only remain open to provide large meals, or they must move to operate a delivery and take-out service only.

“Alcohol can only be served with a substantial meal.”

Level 3 restrictions will be imposed countywide at 00.01 on Friday, October 30
