George and Amal Clooney told other guests at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding that they didn’t even know them, it has been claimed.
Hollywood heartthrob George, 59, and his human rights lawyer wife, Amal, 42, were among the lucky hand-picked guests invited to Windsor Castle in May 2018 to watch the beloved couple tie the knot.
But it is claimed that the famous couple confessed that they did not even know the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
George and Amal had privileged seats at the wedding, seated alongside Lady Carolyn Warren, the wife of the Queen’s blood advisor, John Warren, and facing Princess Margaret’s son, Viscount Linley.

But according to Rachel Johnson, they told other guests that they were far from the best of royal friends.
Boris Johnson’s sister wrote for AirMail: “There is a story going around that while Carolyn Bartholomew, Diana’s ex-roommate, was waiting for the wedding service to begin, she turned to the couple next to her and asked how they knew to Harry or Meghan.
“‘We don’t,’ the Clooney replied cheerfully.”
Carolyn is Harry’s godmother and was one of three young women who shared the Earl’s Court flat with her late mother Diana and was privy to the secret when she met Prince Charles.
Rachel also claimed that the other celebrities invited to the wedding, such as Oprah Winfrey, David and Victoria Beckham, and James Corden, “could not be dear old friends of the bridal couple.”

Other famous faces at the wedding were Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian.
Despite conflicting reports about how well George and Amal knew Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, it was said at the time that George had been the life of the party and even danced with Meghan and Kate Middleton.
Biography Finding Freedom states that even if the Clooneys did not know the couple at the time, they have since reached out and welcomed the Duke and Duchess to their Oxfordshire home on at least two occasions.
It says that Meghan and Harry would take their dogs with them and that George and Amal would take their friends to the lake.

It is also claimed that Harry and Meghan flew to Lake Como in George’s private jet to meet him and his wife just weeks after the wedding.
A source said at the time: “Meghan and Amal spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool and playing with the twins while George and Harry went through George’s motorcycle collection. Harry took one of them with one of his protection officers. George he recently had an accident, so he still hadn’t gotten back on his bike. “
