There was a new death from coronavirus overnight in Scotland, the Scottish government announced.
Another 1,122 Scots have also tested positive for the deadly virus as cases continue to rise across the country.
Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 57,874 people have tested positive for the deadly virus that has spread around the world.
Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that 1,052 patients are currently being treated at the hospital, while 90 remain in intensive care.
Since the start of the pandemic, 2,701 people have died after registering a positive Covid-19 test.
The news comes when Sturgeon last week unveiled its five-tier lockdown plan for Scotland in a bid to combat the virus.
The government also issued an advisory yesterday to Scottish families planning to go dress up for Halloween next weekend.
Parents are asked to keep children at home and dress up for Halloween, or have a family Halloween party at home.
It is recommended that door-to-door disguise not be carried out this year to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Scots were warned on Thursday to prepare for a “digital Christmas” which will not be normal.
Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director for the Scottish Government, has frankly assessed the spread of Covid-19.
Professor Leitch said that the introduction of the Scottish five-tier lockdown, to be formally announced today, would lower the infection rate, but was cautious about easing restrictions on people’s lives during winter.
Leitch said: “I am hopeful that the costs now will give us a more family Christmas.
“But Christmas is not going to be normal, there is no doubt about that.”
He told BBC Scotland: “We are not going to be in large family groups with multiple families coming together, that’s fiction for this year.”
