Match of the Day experts Jermaine Jenas and Micah Richards have delivered their verdict on Fabinho and a VAR call during the clash against Sheffield United last night.
Jurgen Klopp’s team fell behind with an early penalty, sent by Sander Berge, before goals from Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota turned the game for a 2-1 victory.
However, for the second week in a row, after the controversial Merseyside derby against Everton, VAR took center stage during the proceedings and there was much debate surrounding the match.
A great decision was against Liverpool, as Fabinho was deemed to have conceded a foul right on the penalty area line, and referee Mike Dean finally signaled the venue after VAR action.
Former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder Jenas argued in favor of Liverpool, stating it was not a foul and questioning why the VAR did not step in to tell Dean to head to the touchline to rewatch the incident in the monitors.
But Jenas claimed that Fabinho made the mistake of attempting a tackle in the first place when arguably he should have remained standing.
He explained on BBC Match of the Day: “First of all, should Fabinho go for the ball? No, you should stay out of it.
“I don’t think it’s a penalty. I don’t think it’s a fault at all.
“He’s on the line, he gets something from the ball, so it shouldn’t happen.
“Mike Dean gave it, he could have gone to the monitor but he didn’t and the VAR didn’t see it as a clear and obvious mistake and didn’t override it. “
Fabinho replaced Virgil van Dijk on defense, who could miss the rest of the season through injury.
AAlthough Richards admitted that the Brazilian will make mistakes, he believes he is capable of doing the job.

He explained: “He has played in that position before, yes, he will make mistakes.
“He is not going to replace Van Dijk, nobody can do it, but I think he will be a good replacement for the team until he comes back.
Liverpool are back in midweek Champions League action against FC Midtjylland, before hosting West Ham in the Premier League.
