THIS is the moment when the drunken barbarians cost England and the RFU £ 1 million as they broke the strict rules of the Covid-19 bubble to jump into the whip.
Former England captain Chris Robshaw, along with a slew of Saracen stars like Richard Wigglesworth, Jackson Wray, Manu Vunipola and Tim Swinson, were caught sipping beers in a London pub.
At one point scrum-half Wigglesworth, a 33-time international for England, leans over to Irish international Fergus McFadden and yells, “Fergus, fucking drink it!”
Someone is heard off-camera before that, prompting another player by yelling, “In your gut! In your gut!”
Scotland and Lions star Sean Maitland is also at the bar along with rising England U-20 star Joel Kpoku and Argentine Juan Pablo Socino.
The barbarians had adhered to strict bubble rules, but broke them on Tuesday. Y Wednesday: just 24 hours after they met.
In an awkward video, Swinson said earlier in the week that: “The coronavirus has really put the kaibosh on nights out and socializing outside the hotel and outside of your social distancing.
“We’re still doing a good job of making it fun, but the organization of the fun is a little different.
“We are in a unique position in London to be one of the few groups of people who can associate with people outside of their family.
“So we are in a kind of bubble in the hotel.
“We have a room for the team and we had a game night and that sort of thing, but getting out of the hotel is practically impossible at the moment.
“We have had a few beers in the equipment room of the hotel, but we are doing our best with a can with the limits of the coronavirus.
“We’re doing the best we can, but it’s probably not running around Park Lane naked or something.”
RFU bosses face a seven-figure TV bill for Sky Sports, showing the game as the final part of a £ 30 million deal, plus tens of thousands for sponsors.
England manager Eddie Jones finished his warm-up ahead of a Six Nations title shot in Italy next weekend as they feared Baa-Baas could infect England.
Robshaw is now under investigation, along with Wigglesworth and another member of the ‘Dirty Dozen’ drunk.
Robshaw, 34, said: “I want to express my deepest apologies for violating Covid-19 barbarian restrictions by leaving the hotel after training with some of my teammates.
“A great effort was made to run this match safely and it was irresponsible on my part to break the protocols that were put in place to protect players, staff and the public.
“I understand that my actions have ultimately contributed to the cancellation of Sunday’s game.
“And I am sincerely sorry for my role in undoing all the amazing work that went into trying to make this happen.
“I promise I will learn from this mistake and make sure something like this never happens again.”
The England team will also be hit on the pocket by match fees which were lowered from the current £ 17,000 test check as the game was not limited.
And Robshaw’s regret was undermined because he liked a tweet from Piers Morgan saying the players had just left for a business meeting.
Twickenham boss Bill Sweeney was furious: “We are incredibly disappointed to have to stop this event.
“We know how much the fans expected to see the teams play.
“However, our priority is to protect the health and safety of the England team and the other international teams they face this autumn.
“A great deal of effort has gone into Covid codes of conduct and game planning, including cooperating with Premiership clubs to free up additional players to safely comply with the match.
“We are all incredibly frustrated and disappointed that the actions of various Barbarians players mean that we no longer feel it is safe for the game to go forward.”
