Piers Morgan has revealed that he would return to Britain’s Got Talent ‘if the money is right’ and David Walliams left the show.
The 55-year-old TV host served as a judge alongside Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden on the first four series before his nemesis David joined in the sixth season.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Piers recounted how he spoke to BGT bosses about the possibility of returning when Simon was ill with his back injury.
Terms: Piers Morgan, 55, has revealed that he would return to Britain’s Got Talent ‘if the money is right’ and if David Walliams leaves the show.
He said: ‘I have conversations with BGT from time to time, particularly after Simon had his injury. But I couldn’t work with Walliams. I think it is a deceptive and treacherous job.
“He’s one of those people who says something to your face and then hits it behind your back. If I was sitting there I wouldn’t be interested. But if he wasn’t sitting there, who knows?
‘I will go back to BGT if the money is correct and if they guarantee that they will fire Walliams. You could even make it into a contract clause that I’m the one to tell you you’re fired. If I were him, I would just write children’s books.
The feud between the couple escalated earlier this year when Piers was said to have discovered some nasty tweets that David had “liked” about him.
Piers said: ‘I couldn’t work with Walliams. I think it’s a deceptive, treacherous job ‘
The Good Morning Britain host tweeted: ‘Funny that @davidwalliams regularly’ likes’ the nastiest tweets about me, but he’s a crybaby to my face. It’s not my fault @BGT’s ratings were higher when I was in your chair Dave!
MailOnline has contacted a representative for Britain’s Got Talent for comment.
It comes after The Sun reported that bosses hoped Piers could turn things around on the show amid declining viewership numbers for the most recent series.
The source said: ‘Britain’s Got Talent is one of the few Saturday night shows that continues to shine and be relevant.
But all programs need to refresh, and Piers certainly will. He has been approached by two senior executives and, for his part, has said that he would do so if the terms are right.
Return? Piers served as a judge alongside Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden on the first four series before his nemesis David joined in the sixth season (pictured from the show in 2009).
‘He will give the show its edge back and provide those bright, cooler moments. It will revitalize the series. ‘
A BGT spokesperson told MailOnline: “Unsurprisingly, during these times, it will not surprise the public to learn that no such discussions have taken place regarding BGT 2022.”
David, 49, has already signed a one-year extension to his contract, which will keep him on the talent show until 2021.
However, Piers’ Good Morning Britain contract is said to expire next year, meaning he could film for the 2022 series.
Earlier this year, ITV approached Piers for a spot on Simon’s judging panel when he had to take a break after breaking his back in a bicycle accident.
Piers added: ‘I will go back to BGT if the money is right and if they guarantee Walliams will be fired. He could even turn it into a contract clause that I’ll be the one to tell him he’s fired. ‘
However, Piers reportedly turned down the offer because he didn’t want to work with David, calling him an ‘insufferable jerk’.
Meanwhile, David was also unsatisfied with the idea and was said to have threatened to resign if he was forced to share a panel with Piers.
The couple’s long feud, which began when David took over as judge at BGT, was reignited earlier this year when Piers said he would not attend the National Television Awards because the former Little Britain star was the host.
Speaking to The Mirror, he said: ‘It doesn’t make sense for the same people to win the same awards every year.
“I’d rather stay home and watch Groundhog Day and host David Walliams gives me goosebumps.”
Piers previously appeared on Chris Evan’s breakfast show and said he didn’t know ‘what the hell would happen’ when his contract with GMB ends.
Enemies: Piers reportedly turned down an offer to take a seat on Simon Cowell’s judging panel this year because he didn’t want to work with David, calling him an “insufferable jerk.”
