Quick reads

Liverpool loan officer Harvey Elliott showed why he is so well rated with a well scored goal and an assist for Blackburn Rovers.

Eliott, who made eight appearances for the Reds in 2019-20, joined the Championship team on a one-season loan deal in pursuit of regular first-team football.

Playing the full 90 minutes against Coventry, the 17-year-old scored the Rovers’ third goal with a left-footed shot from close range, becoming the fourth-youngest scorer in his history.

The midfielder then showed impressive footwork before crossing for Sam Gallagher to make it 4-0.

He completed 40 passes with an 83% success rate and made six key passes, the most of any Blackburn player.

England’s U-17 international was also influential when the Rovers were out of possession, making six comebacks and winning two tackles.

Since moving to Ewood Park, his new boss Tony Mowbray has already praised him saying, “I think the combination of Elliott and [Rovers striker Adam] Armstrong is going to be something we can really look forward to.

“It seems to me that he has fantastic qualities to go and integrate into areas. The backlines will have to be in their metal to stop that. “

We’ve put together a number of tweets from Blackburn and Liverpool fans who are already excited about the midfielder.
