Last night, the police broke up a downtown party in the center of town.
More than 50 people attended the illegal gathering at Angel Meadow.
The organizer was fined £ 10,000, one of the first maximum penalties imposed since the Level 3 restrictions were introduced in Greater Manchester.
Police were called to the Simpson Street apartment at 11:20 p.m. on Friday.
Inside, officers discovered DJ mixing consoles, ‘industrial speakers’ and a buffet.
ACC Mabs Hussain, Greater Manchester Police, said: “This party was a blatant disregard of the rules and public health.
“It is totally unacceptable in the current crisis facing the entire world and it is not what we want our officers to spend their time doing.
“We had no choice but to issue the maximum penalty for breaking the law in large gatherings and I hope this serves as a reminder for those considering breaking the rules: we will take action.
“The new level restrictions recently implemented will certainly have a huge effect on the lives of the people of Greater Manchester, but the restrictions are there to save lives.
“While the vast majority of people in Greater Manchester continue to comply with government legislation, there are some who continue to break the law and put lives at risk.
“This is a challenging time for all of us and we need to ensure that we are working together to reduce the risk posed by the spread of Covid-19.”
Police say a total of 52 fines have been imposed since Greater Manchester entered level 3 restrictions.
Downtown Councilor Jon-Connor Lyons tweeted: “There was a huge party on the AirBnB floor (50-100 people) last night at #AngelMeadow with gorillas, DJs and a buffet.
“The police attended and issued the organizer a fine of £ 10,000 in violation of COVID-19 rules.
“Please inform the police about these parties that violate the Covid.”
He later tweeted: “We are seeing reports of these coming through the neighborhood.
“I wonder what recent decision imposed by the national government that has led people to drink and have fun in unsafe and unregulated Covid-19 spaces.”
