A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found on a National Trust estate.
The woman’s body was found by Thames Valley police in a forest on the Watlington Hill estate on Friday night.
He is believed to be in his 60s and officers link his murder to reports of a man seen acting suspiciously in a bar earlier that day.
Major Crimes Unit Detective Superintendent Craig Kirby, Senior Investigative Officer, said a murder investigation was launched, adding: “My thoughts remain with the family of the deceased woman in what must be a very distressing time.” .
“We are conducting a thorough investigation to reconstruct what has happened that led to the death of this woman.”
The detainee is in hospital and receiving treatment for serious injuries.
Police want to hear from anyone who has seen a man behaving suspiciously near the Fox And Hounds pub on Christmas Common, Oxfordshire, around 3.30pm on Friday.
They would also like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Watlington Hill area around 5.50pm.
