The Rossoneri kicked off their Europa League group stage campaign with a 3-1 win over Scottish champions Celtic, extending their unbeaten streak to 21 matches in all competitions. Below are the player ratings.

START XI

Donnarumma (6): Totally calm for much of the game with Celtic only having a real chance and that’s his only goal.

Dalot (6): Positive debut on loan from Manchester United. He lost the ball quite a bit, but overall he looked good in the flow of the game and will certainly see improvement as he gets more playing time.

Kjaer (7): Reliable as ever, the seasoned center-back continues his impressive run of form after starting every game this season.

Romagnoli (7.5): Good performance by the captain in his second game back from injury, quite calm on defense and completed all his long balls.

Hernandez (7.5): Excellent defensive performance from the electric winger who recovered from an unusually poor performance in the derby at the weekend.

Kessie (8 – MOTM): The anchor in midfield, as always, recovering the ball consistently in every way. It completely ruined whatever rhythm Celtic tried to build.

Tonal (5.5): A poor performance by the young Italian, he lazily gave up the ball several times early and lost his man to the Celtic corner.

Castillejo (7): He provided the assist to Krunic’s first goal and was generally very good on the ball. She very rarely gave him away and was near perfect with her passing.

Krunic (7.5): One of the best performances of the Bosnian with the Milan shirt, scoring his first goal for the club to open the scoring with a great header. He also carried the ball continuously in transition effectively.

Brahim Diaz (7.5): He grabbed his second goal of the season with a delicious dribble to put the Celtic defender on his heels and then put him into the bottom corner. Good overall performance.

Ibrahimovic (6): Solid performance from the talisman, he linked possession well and played the pass to Theo just before the second goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Bennacer (6): He replaced his regular midfield partner Kessie and helped close the game. He did well in a tight situation to get the ball out and find Saelemaekers just before the third goal.

Leao (6): He came in for Zlatan and couldn’t get too involved in the game as Celtic pushed to stay in the game.

Saelemaekers (N / A): He entered for Castillejo and gave the assist for the third goal to put the game out of reach.

Hauge (N / A): He came in for Brahim Díaz and scored his first goal for the club to freeze the game in injury time.
