Manchester United hero Rio Ferdinand believes the players are together under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their 2-1 win over PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday. Marcus Rashford scored the crucial goal at Parc des Princes once again as the Red Devils got their campaign off to the perfect start.
Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead from the penalty spot before an own goal by Anthony Martial made it 1-1.
The Rashford winner came in the 87th minute to take more pressure off Solskjaer.
Before the international break, reports emerged that if form did not improve, the Norwegian could be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.
But Ferdinand believes that everyone is moving in the same direction at Old Trafford and that United could run a good run of form.
He said on BT Sport: “There are times in the season when your season can start. If you do well in a great game. That was it.
“The performance this time, we showed that we have developed. Scott and Fred were outstanding.
“They are in good shape now. They are good players and they played very well against Newcastle, they laid the groundwork for victory in that game and they also laid the groundwork for today.”
United dazzled Axel Tuanzebe from the start against PSG, their first game since late last year following injury problems.
“Yes, it was good,” the 22-year-old said upon his return.
“It was good to run away. It’s a tough game to come back to, but I’m happy that we won. We came here to win.
“We are in this competition to compete. We show respect to PSG, but in the end we are the biggest team and we want to dominate and get the three points.”
“You definitely pay them [Neymar, Mbappe and Angel Di Maria] respects but, at the end of the day, you focus on your own game and try to do what is best for the team.
“We came out here to win, we got all three points and we are happy with that.”
United will return to action on Saturday when they face Chelsea at Old Trafford in the Premier League (5.30pm).
