L’Equipe salutes Victor Lindelof and new Alex Telles as the star men who helped Manchester United make PSG ‘unrecognizable’ in their infamously tough player ratings, while Neymar and Kylian Mbappé score just FOUR out of 10
- Manchester United got a late win over PSG in the first match of the Champions League
- L’Equipe praised the displays of United defenders Alex Telles and Victor Lindelof
- But the French media was not impressed with the superstars Neymar and Mbappé
French media L’Equipe has praised Manchester United stars Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles when they helped defeat PSG 2-1 in their first Champions League game on Tuesday night.
Marcus Rashford’s latest winner made it a perfect start to the Red Devils’ European campaign, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men put up a solid defensive battle to keep the top stars of the French giants quiet.
L’Equipe, who is known for giving tough ratings to players, gave Swedish center-back Lindelof a seven out of ten, the highest score of the eleven players on the field, while newcomer Telles received the same.

New signing Alex Telles also made a solid change to the left back as he helped keep the PSG stars calm.
But they were damning about some of the performances by the hosts, whom United made appear “unrecognizable.”
Kylian Mbappé and Neymar were expected to rebel against the Premier League side, but both were chained and both duly scored a four.

On their cover, they said that PSG was ‘punished’ by Marcus Rashford less than two months after competing in the Champions League final, and that only goalkeeper Keylor Navas earned a rating higher than six.
On the right side of the attack, the normally impressive Ángel Di María joined Neymar and Mbappé to score a four, while former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye could only muster a three.
On loan, Roma right-back Alessandro Florenzi also received a three, and Ander Herrrera scored four against his former club. In the back, Presnel Kimpembe did a little better as they gave him a five, with Navas the best player with a seven.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel admits he was taken aback by his team’s poor display.
“It was a performance without intensity, without aggression, without counter-pressure,” he said. “It was a bit strange, I don’t know why.”
For United, L’Equipe also gave an enthusiastic review of David De Gea, who scored seven after making a series of smart saves to show why Solskjaer is keeping him as their number one at Old Trafford.

Fred was United’s lowest scoring player, scoring a four, and Axel Tuanzebe was slightly higher at five despite earning praise from many experts in his first game for the club in ten months.
Scorers Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, who missed a penalty in the first half before scoring a second, have to settle for a six, as well as France’s Anthony Martial, who scored an own goal after the break.
The victory continues United’s mini revival after recovering from a 6-1 humiliation at home to Tottenham by beating Newcastle 4-1 on Saturday.
