Melania Trump withdrew from a campaign trip with her husband due to a persistent cough after her COVID-19 diagnosis, her chief of staff said.
Stephanie Grisham said that The First Lady you keep feeling better every day after coronavirus, “but with a persistent cough, and as a precaution, he will not travel today.”
Mrs. Trump was to accompany The president of the United States to a rally in Erie City in Pennsylvania Tuesday night, in what would have been his first public campaign appearance in more than a year.
Instead, Trump will now travel without his wife by his side, as he continues to woo his fervent fan base before next month’s choice.
She was last seen in public two days before testing positive for COVID-19, in the first presidential debate between her husband and a Democrat Joe biden on September 29, while his last campaign appearance was in June 2019 in Orlando, Florida.
Ms. Trump is expected to travel to Nashville, Tennessee, Thursday for the final presidential debate before the November 3 elections.
The announcement that the first lady will no longer travel is another reminder to the president that the virus is still present in everyday life, even though he seems willing to believe otherwise.
On Monday, Trump said the American public was tired of hearing about COVID-19, and criticized his own infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, calling it a “disaster”.
