A cyclist has been flown to hospital and is believed to have suffered serious injuries following an accident on the Huntingdon Ring Road this afternoon (20 October).
The accident involved a car and a cyclist near Sainsbury’s supermarket on Ring Road B1514 near the intersection with Hartford Road.
A police statement read: “We are currently at the scene of a collision involving a bicyclist and a car on the Huntingdon Ring Road near Sainsbury’s.
“The cyclist is believed to have been seriously injured and is being airlifted to hospital. Avoid the area if possible.”
The accident is causing serious traffic problems in Huntingdon as the one-way system is significantly blocked.
There is slow and stationary traffic on most of the ring road, and the delays affect other parts of the city as well.
Ermine Street, St Peter’s Road, Ambury Road, Avenue Road, Priory Road, Primrose Lane and Crowper Road are experiencing delays.
