Weekly coronavirus-related deaths have risen to their highest in England and Wales since the beginning of July, according to the Office for National Statistics.
A total of 438 deaths were recorded in the week ending October 9 with COVID-19 mentioned on the death certificate.
This represents an increase of 321 deaths in the week through October 2.

The 117 additional deaths mark a 36% increase in deaths from the previous week.
Figures from the ONS show that, since the week ending September 4, registered coronavirus deaths have doubled roughly every fortnight.
Northwest England had 153 recorded COVID-19-related deaths in the week ending October 9, the highest number for the region since the week ending June 12, according to the ONS.
There were 60 deaths from coronavirus in the week to October 9 in England, which is the highest for the region from the week to June 12.
Recorded deaths involving COVID-19 increased week-over-week in all but two of England’s regions in the week to October 9.
The exceptions were eastern England and south-eastern England.
There were 37 coronavirus deaths on the certificate in Wales, an increase of 12 compared to the previous week.
