The new Kane
Harry Kane (£ 10.7 million) is back … but not as we know it. The managers of the Fantasy Premier League have been waiting for this day for some time and many of them finally got what they wanted: a Kane capable of exploding almost every week.
Against West Ham, the Spurs forward delivered once again, posting another three hitting returns, posting a third double-digit loot in five games and is now targeting Gameweek 6 as the highest-scoring Fantasy asset with 60 points.
That big haul is made up of five goals and seven assists, meaning Kane has already matched his personal best in assists in the Premier League campaign, adding seven in the 2016/17 and 2014/15 campaigns respectively.
A big reason for the player’s resurgence this season is that José Mourinho has finally found a way to build the Spurs team around Kane’s altered role in recent years.
Rather than trying to force him back to the more traditional number nine we once knew, Mourinho is making the most of Kane’s fall in midfield. However, the premium trailer isn’t just a deep seat, as we’ve often seen in recent years. In 2020/21, his success comes from balancing both areas of his game, knowing the right moments to fall and when to push forward to attack space.
Kane now knows that the best time to land in midfield is when the opposition opens the space and, as we saw in Spurs’ first goal on Sunday, this is often combined with runs at the opportune moment of Son Heung-min (£ 9.3 million) to the left and whoever occupies the right flank.
The Spurs’ third goal against West Ham was a classic example of how Kane knew when to terrorize defenses, taking off the back of an exposed Angelo Ogbonna (£ 4.9m) to go further Lukasz Fabiański (£ 5.0 million) from Sergio Reguilon(5.5 million pounds sterling).
MOVING WITH THE CROWD
It would appear that more seasoned managers are beginning to take in Kane’s Fantasy credentials much earlier than the rest of the world – something worth knowing for anyone trying to scythe up the overall rankings or avoid the red arrow swap of a cash. . property ax.
While Son is in 46.8% of the teams, only surpassed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£ 7.7 million), only 32% own Kane at the moment. That’s despite the Spurs man posting 17 points more than Everton’s leading forward.
Meanwhile, as you can see from LiveFPL.net’s captaincy analysis for Gameweek 5, Son was the most popular skipper with a 17.9% share, while Kane had to settle for the second-highest endorsement (16.9% %).
However, when we consider the managers who made it to Gameweek 5 as the top 10,000, the dominance of Kane’s bracelet was far more significant.
47.6% of these bosses captained the premium striker, compared to just 20.8% who supported Mohamed salah (£ 12.3 million) and 16.4% for Son. Such figures resulted in Kane having the highest effective ownership in the top 10k for Gameweek 5 (118.4%), a mantle that Gameweek 6 might well hold as the game’s highest-scoring player and a trip to Burnley.
West Ham defense
It must be said that Kane and his teammates were certainly helped by poor defense in Gameweek 5, although that was largely just for the first 20 minutes.
During this period, the Hammers were everywhere in the back. Having switched to a back-five, there was no communication in the opening exchanges and it was often unclear who was spotting which attackers.
That led to very little pressure on the ball, allowing Kane, Son and Reguilón more time to create the three chances that led to the goals.
While that period might have encouraged those watching Manchester City and Liverpool assets for the week 6 and 7 captainship respectively, it is interesting to note that West Ham was much more difficult to take down after falling into the initial deficit of 3- 0.
They have weathered the storm of their difficult career since the beginning of the campaign much better than expected, especially compared to the rest of the Premier League.
Between game weeks 1 and 4, their expected goals conceded (xGC) score was just 3.71 after having faced Newcastle, Arsenal, Wolves and Leicester. That was the fourth-best in the Premier League during that span and the second-lowest of any team that had played four games.
Even after conceding three goals at Spurs, his 5.40 xGC was still in the division’s top three before Monday night’s games, though of the teams that played last night, only Burnley boasted a better score of anyway.
Aaron Cresswell (£ 4.9m) is sure to end up on more and more Fantasy radars as West Ham’s swing approaches Gameweek 8. Between then and the 13th, David Moyes’s men will face Fulham (at home), Sheffield United (out), Aston Villa (home) and Leeds (home).
And against Wolves, Leicester and Spurs, Cresswell has posted a clean sheet and three assists, averaging nine points per game in that time.
The new Sergio
Reguilón is slowly emerging as the Spurs’ eye-catching defender, receiving an assist in his second straight start as a left back, while the most expensive Matt doherty (£ 5.8 million) has been lost each of the last two matches for Serge aurier (£ 5.2 million)
Reguilón has been a persistent chance-maker in his two Premier League appearances so far. Despite playing just 180 minutes compared to the rest of the team, his five key passes this season are the most of any Spurs defense and are behind only Son (16) and Kane (13).
However, a clean sheet remains elusive for Mourinho’s men as they managed to give up a 3-0 lead in the final 10 minutes of Sunday’s London derby.
It was a fair reward for West Ham, who had been persistent, especially during the second half, and finished the game with more shots (13-11) and more shots in the area (10-5) than their hosts.
It meant the Spurs are yet to have a clean sheet since last season’s Gameweek 37+ and have allowed eight goals since then, 1.6 per game.
Although it seemed fixed at first, the central pairing with Mourinho remains difficult for Fantasy coaches and could be the only thing that could moderate a greater investment in Reguilón.
Eric Dier (£ 5.0 million) was lost for the first time with a hamstring injury, allowing Toby Alderweireld (£ 5.4 million) to make his first start since Gameweek 1, this time alongside Davinson Sanchez (£ 5.4 million). Actually, that was the pair of center-backs he used the last time Spurs kept a clean sheet in the Premier League, although it didn’t work out on Sunday, with the Colombian scoring an own goal.
Meanwhile, after five games, the Spurs xGC of 7.18 remains within the bottom seven so far this season. However, they face Burnley (away), Brighton (home) and West Brom (home) ahead of Gameweek 8.
Bale time?
After much fanfare, Gareth Bale (£ 9.5m) has finally reappeared on the Spurs squad, this time as a 72nd minute replacement for Steven Bergwijn (£ 7.1 million).
Son’s incredible performance so far this season has largely pushed the Real Madrid player to the fringes of the Fantasy radar, but coaches would do well to keep an eye on him in the weeks ahead.
As the South Korean’s price rises rapidly in line with Bale’s (now £ 9.3 million to £ 9.5 million), the latter may be seen less overlooked in value interest.
And if his 18-minute spell against West Ham is of any use, the Welshman is sure to find himself in goals this season.
Located on the right side of Spurs’ offensive midfield, Bale connected well with Kane and played for what seemed like a sure goal in the final stages.
We’ll also need to be on the lookout for the impact Bale has on the key assets around him and whether it could detract from the amount of possession Son sees. Against West Ham, the two players had the same minutes per touch of 1.6.
Antony last
Finally, an update on Michail antonio (£ 6.3m), whose replacement in the 76th minute ensured he was not involved in any of West Ham’s comeback goals.
It was his first away goal this season and the forward can certainly be considered unlucky for having recorded just one point, as he had more touches in the penalty area than any other player on the field (10) and led in shots. . in the box too.
Moyes revealed after the game that Antonio had a tight hamstring and that the substitution was largely a precaution.
“Michail had a tight hamstring and he didn’t want to take any chances at the time, so I changed it.” – David Moyes
While Antonio’s owners will have to wait for the next press conference before making a final decision, their chances of starting early were still boosted by the latest news in Sebastien haller (£ 6.2 million), West Ham’s only other recognized senior forward to miss the Spurs game with one hit.
“We were quite short, Seb Haller was injured yesterday in training.” – David Moyes
Tottenham Hotspur XI (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Reguilón, Sánchez, Alderweireld, Aurier; Højbjerg, Sissoko; They are (Moura 80 ′), Ndombèlé (Winks 73 ′), Bergwijn (Bale 72 ′); Kane.
