Manchester United want to sign Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde and could use Paul Pogba as potential weight in a deal, according to reports.
The Uruguayan has become an important part of Zinedine Zidane’s team in recent seasons and has a £ 640 million release clause in his contract.
United could look to strengthen their squad even further following the midfield acquisitions of Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek in 2020.

And according to The Sun, the Old Trafford club could use Paul Pogba as bait to convince Real Madrid to let Valverde pass the next year or so.
Pogba has recently had a one-year extension to his Manchester United contract activated, meaning he is tied to the Red Devils until the summer of 2022.
However, the Frenchman has been strongly linked to a move to Real Madrid in the last 12 months and recently revealed that he dreams of playing at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The midfielder said this week while on international service with France: ‘Yes, all footballers would love to play for Real Madrid.
‘It’s a dream for me, why not one day?’
Pogba’s position on the Manchester United side was once again called into question after he was eliminated from the starting lineup for his team’s 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
Valverde has become a vital piece of Real Madrid and won the LaLiga title last season
United’s reported interest in Valverde implies that the Premier League club is preparing for life after Pogba, as they seek to return to the top of the English game.
The Real Madrid midfielder played 33 times for Zidane’s squad in which Los Blancos regained the LaLiga title from archrival Barcelona.
Valverde has played five times for Madrid this season, scoring just one. He is expected to play a key role in his team’s top flight Spanish title defense, as well as their quest for the Champions League this season.
