Nottingham Forest has its first win of the season in Chris Hughton’s first game.

Joe Lolley’s deflected goal in the 90th minute secured all three points after the Reds had been the top team, deserving a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

It was the first clean sheet in 12 games for the Reds who had lost their first five games of the season.

Chris Hughton made four changes from Sabri Lamouchi’s last game in charge: the 2-1 loss to Bristol City.

Central defenders Loic Mbe Soh and Tyler Blackett came out, the latter injured. In their place were Scott McKenna and Tobias Figueiredo again.

Ryan Yates got the go-ahead in midfield to team Jack Colback with Harry Arter alone on the bench.

The final change saw Lolley return wide in place of Alex Mighten.

The first half was a dull affair when it came to the action at goal, although Forest was more than in the game.

They got closer when Lolley’s cross leaned over the top of the bar as it threatened to sink.

It took 41 minutes for a shot on goal when a docile effort by former Red Ben Brereton was stopped.

Forest had the first chance of the second when Yates headed a Grabban cross from close range.

The visitors suffered a blow in the 50th minute when Jack Colback limped off and was replaced by Arter.

Perhaps it should have been 1-0 after 62 minutes when Figueiredo’s header from six yards bounced off the ground and directly into the arms of Thomas Kaminski.

There were more half chances with Ameobi and Taylor watching saves.

Ameobi hit the post with a good shot from outside the area in the 88th minute and then Lolley stepped in and unleashed a deflected effort that came in just as the scoreboard went up.

Forest: Samba; Christie, McKenna, Figueiredo, Ioannou; Colback (Arter 49), Yates; Lolley (Cerda 90), Freeman, Ameobi; Grabban (Taylor 73); Subs: Smith, Mbe Soh, Jenkinson, Mighten
