A murder investigation was launched after a man was killed in an attack on a flat in Coulsdon.
Metropolitan Police said he was called to the address, on Reddown Road, at 9.27 p.m. on Friday (October 16).
Officers attended along with paramedics and found a 59-year-old man with stab wounds and head injuries. He died at the scene around 10 p.m. despite the efforts of the emergency services.
Police said the man’s relatives have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
In a statement on Saturday (October 17), officers confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested near the scene on suspicion of murder.
He complained of discomfort and was taken to the hospital.
Police officers from the Met’s South Area Command Unit will conduct additional patrols around the area after the incident and have urged local people with concerns or information about crime in the area to speak with them.
