Phillip Cocu saw enough in Derby County’s performance against Watford to give him confidence that positive results are just around the corner.
The Rams lost 1-0, their fourth loss in five league games this season, to remain 20th in the Championship.
Joao Pedro scored the only goal of the match in the second half, but Cocu was happy with his team’s performance.
“We deserved perhaps more than one point, but sometimes in football you play a good game and you don’t win, sometimes it’s difficult, it can be very frustrating,” he said.
“If we play like this, and we combine it with the attitude, the energy and the press, I can’t blame the guys for anything.
“I am very satisfied with the game we played.
“We took the initiative, we dominated most of the game, we combined good football with the right attitude within the team, we were vocal, up front, and we created quite a few opportunities against a team that is very well organized.

“The individual play of a Watford player, a great goal, made the difference, but we also had some chances to score and we didn’t.
“But when I look at our performance, I am very happy with how we played.
“I am sure that if we can maintain this high level of performance, I have no doubt that in the next matches we will get good results.”
