Jennifer Arcuri reportedly admitted to having an affair with Boris Johnson after accusations that he used his position as mayor of London to obtain favorable treatment for the businesswoman.

The prime minister avoided a criminal investigation after the police watchdog found no evidence that he influenced the payment of thousands of pounds of public money to Acuri, or secured his participation in the foreign trade trips he led.

Arcuri admitted to having an affair with Johnson while he was with his then-wife Marina Wheeler, according to the Daily Mail. “I think it goes without saying,” he reportedly said when asked if they were having an affair. “It’s quite out there … But I’m not going to talk about it.” In the interview, she also spoke of being bombarded by her “avalanches of passion.”

The City Council resumed an investigation into Johnson’s conduct after the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) closed in May.

The IOPC said it “would have been prudent” to declare its association with Arcuri and found evidence that they may have had an “intimate relationship.”

Johnson, who was mayor of the capital from 2008 to 2016, welcomed the IOPC finding and criticized the “vexatious accusations” against it.
