Alarming images from inside an intensive care unit reveal the deepening coronavirus crisis in Liverpool hospitals.
The video, shared by Liverpool City Council, shows inside a ‘red zone’ at the Royal Liverpool Hospital where nurses must wear hazmat suits and Covid-19 patients are hooked up to ventilators.
In the video, a critical care consultant calls on locals to adhere to the rules to help ease the pressure on the NHS.

Dr. Richard Wenstone says: “Now we are under a lot of pressure every day.
“My biggest concern is that we have not yet seen the peak of the second increase.
“We are now entering a winter and we look forward to the flu season and of course winter tends to be a very busy time for hospitals anyway.
“But this is a very serious disease. Is here. It is not going away very quickly, it is killing people and it will continue to kill people until there is a vaccine, if we ever get it.
“There is no doubt that the really hard lock in the spring made the difference.

“I don’t think there is any question about it, so we know that if people stick to the rules, we can reduce transmission.”
Liverpool Councilor Paul Brant, Member of the Adult Health and Social Care Cabinet, said: “Health service staff in Liverpool are working tirelessly to care for the increasing number of Covid-19 patients in the hospital.
“The situation in this city is extremely dire and we must all work together to stop the spread of the virus and save lives.”
The video was so disturbing that it came with a warning from the council.
