Neil Lennon’s fiery Celtic motivational tactics as ex-Parkhead man lifts lid on Rangers team talks

Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson lifts the lid on the team’s pre-Rangers talks, as he reveals how Neil Lennon will motivate his squad.

Glasgow’s rivals will meet for the first time this season on Saturday just two points apart at the top of the Premiership table.

Even without fans, the stakes are high at Celtic Park, with the hosts looking to avenge a loss at home in December.

And Celtic players will have no doubts about what the match means, with Lennon sure to send his players out with his blood pumping.

Wilson explained on Clyde Superscoreboard: “I wouldn’t say the players did something different.

“I think when you’re at that level and you’re an elite player for Celtic and Rangers, your mindset is pretty sharp anyway.

“I think the managers, and I can only speak from my point of view, maybe the managers took it a little bit differently.

“You can imagine how Neil was for the Celtic vs Rangers games and how he got the players excited.

“He didn’t need it, but you could see how much it meant to him.

“Tony Mowbray was chalk and cheese. A little calmer, he did his team meeting at the hotel and it was tactical. It wasn’t so much about motivation with him.”

“Gordon (Strachan) was just like Neil, he understood what the accessory was.

“So I’ve seen it more from the management and the technical team than from the players. The players are in that zone from the training session on Friday until the game on Saturday.”
