One new death from coronavirus has been recorded at Hampshire Hospitals Trust in the last 24-hour period, the latest official figures show.

Figures from the NHS England show that 164 people had died at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust hospital as of 5pm on Wednesday (October 14).

That was an increase of one compared to Tuesday, when there were 163.

It means there have been two deaths in the past week. The previous ones were that no new deaths were registered.

The victims were among 3,637 deaths recorded throughout the Southeast.

Of 25 trusts within the region, the Hampshire Hospitals trust has the 11th highest number of deaths.

Daily death counts are reviewed daily, with each case retroactive to the actual date of death.

This means that some of the deaths that were registered for the first time in the last period may have taken place days before.

Daily Echo:

The NHS England guide states: “Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure.”

Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those that occur in nursing homes.
