Shocking moment angry customer bursts into Tesco supermarket emptying shelves of chips, popcorn and chocolate after ‘asked to wear a mask’

  • Man bursts down the aisles of the Tesco store in Ealing and the items on the floor
  • The security guard watches in horror as customers wreak havoc on the store
  • Police were called to store on Uxbridge Road for reports of antisocial behavior.

This is the shocking moment when an irate customer walks down the aisle of a Tesco supermarket and throws items on the floor in front of horrified staff after being ‘asked to wear a mask’.

Pictures show the man pulling items off shelves and dumping them on the ground at a branch on Uxbridge Road in Ealing, west London, on September 22.

The angry customer continues his rampage down the confectionery aisle and litters the floor with potato chips, chocolate, and popcorn packets, while concerned employees watch.

The customer is understood to have launched his tirade at the store after staff members asked him to wear a mask or leave the supermarket, The Sun reported.

During the clip, the man, who appears to be on the phone, takes items off the shelves and throws them on the floor.

Piles of broth pile up at his feet as he reaches for the top shelf to get more produce.

A security guard in protective clothing stands by the door and watches in horror as the shopper continues to clear the shelves.

As the shopper sends more items to the floor, the clerk backs up and leaves the store, seeming to look around.

The customer then kicks some of the food from under their feet and screams inaudibly as they continue to tear up the aisle.

Police said they were called to the scene last month to receive reports of antisocial behavior and arrested a man on suspicion of criminal harm.

A police spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘The police were called around 21:00 on 22 September to receive reports of antisocial behavior at a business premises on Uxbridge Road, Ealing.

Agents arrested a man on suspicion of criminal harm. In addition, he was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm in connection with an alleged assault (minor injury) on a store staff member.

“Soren Birch of Greenford was subsequently released on bond with conditions to appear in Uxbridge Magistrates Court on November 25 to answer charges of intent to destroy or damage property and assault with beatings.”

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We are grateful to the police for their help following a disturbance at our Tesco Express store on Uxbridge Road several weeks ago.”

Since then, the video has been viewed more than 100,000 times on Twitter and Facebook, where it has caused confusion among social media users.

Last month, the Prime Minister revealed that fines for not wearing a face cover would increase to £ 200 and will be mandatory for bar staff, shop workers, waiters and taxi passengers.

The scenes come after Ealing became London’s new Covid-19 hotspot with government data showing that the West London borough diagnosed 144.5 cases per 100,000 residents in the week ending 9 October, beating Richmond-upon-Thames (137.9).

Ealing’s seven-day moving average also jumped to 144.5 boxes per day from 132.5 yesterday.

The figures came as Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was ‘expecting’ an announcement from ministers later today to confirm that London will move to Level 2 coronavirus restrictions ‘shortly’. MPs were told this morning that it could be as early as midnight on Friday.

Going from ‘medium’ to ‘high’ would prohibit the nine million people living in the capital from mingling with other homes inside, even in pubs and restaurants.
