Today more coronavirus cases than ever have been added to the overall totals for Leicester and Leicestershire.
Across the city and county combined, there were 351 new cases.
129 new cases have been confirmed in Leicester in the last 24-hour reporting period, bringing the city’s cumulative death toll to 8,248.
Before today, October 7 was the day when the highest number of cases, 106, was added to the number of victims.
Countywide, 222 cases were added to the cumulative totals, 107 of them in Charnwood.
Blaby accounted for 28, Oadby and Wigston saw their total increase by 22, with Hinckley and Bosworth adding 21 cases.
North West Leicestershire recorded 19 more cases, Harborough added 16 to its overall toll and there were nine positive tests at Melton.
Today is the seventh day in a row that cases have exceeded 200, but it is the first time that combined totals have exceeded 300.

Blaby: 1,076 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 1,059
Charnwood: 1,895 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 1,019
Harborough: 739 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 787
Hinckley and Bosworth: 943 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 833
Melton: 357 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 697
North West Leicestershire: 627 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 605
Oadby and Wigston: 977 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 1,713
In other coronavirus news today, a city school closed early for mid-term after multiple staff members tested positive.
A high school also confirmed a case.
Meanwhile, new rules came into effect, placing different areas at different levels based on fees and cases.
