Here are Liverpool’s morning headlines for Sunday October 11.
Liverpool is not interested in Jack Butland
Liverpool are not in negotiations to sign Jack Butland from Stoke City.
Reports on Sunday morning had claimed the Reds were ready to bring the England international to Anfield after Alisson Becker was injured in training ahead of Liverpool’s loss at Aston Villa.
Goalkeeper number two Adrian made a big mistake on Villa’s first goal, but Liverpool will not be looking to sign another goalkeeper before the EFL deadline passes.

The different role of Firmino in Brazil
Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino scored two goals for Brazil in their 5-0 loss to Bolivia this week to showcase his scoring potential.
However, as described in the ECHO , Reds fans shouldn’t expect the 29-year-old to start scoring freely for the club again, as his role under Jurgen Klopp is very different.
Firmino started in a central position for his nation, flanked by Neymar and Everton Soares, while for Liverpool he plays in a more withdrawn role behind Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Firmino has scored just two goals since January for Liverpool and only scored his first goal at Anfield last season in the final game of the campaign on the pitch, against Chelsea in a 5-3 win.
The Brazilian’s role is tailored to benefit the team, rather than his own strengths, under Klopp.
Ferguson’s Klopp fears came true
Liverpool fans will still be reeling from last week’s surprising 7-2 loss at Aston Villa, but the loss must be kept in perspective, as explained by the ECHO .
Klopp has transformed the Reds in his five years at the helm and is beginning to emulate nuances of what Sir Alex Ferguson accomplished at Manchester United.
The Scotsman dominated English football for more than two decades and Klopp is building something similar at Anfield – United took a lot of hits during that time, so these unique games shouldn’t stop too long.
Ferguson said in 2016: “He (Klopp) has done a very good job and revived the enthusiasm of Liverpool.
“It can happen that the big clubs lose it. For two decades, Liverpool changed managers without building their own identity.
“Now you can really feel good that you have to count them this year. You can see Klopp’s dedication on the sidelines, I am convinced that his work in training is similar.
“He is a strong personality. That is absolutely vital in a great club. I’m worried about him because the only thing United doesn’t want is for Liverpool to beat us. “
Possible Reds team for Merseyside derby
Liverpool will be eager to rebound to winning ways after their massive loss at Aston Villa in next week’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
The Reds are unbeaten in 22 games against Everton, but have only scored once in their last four visits to the city. And Klopp will be left without a key player for the clash.
Adrian will continue to substitute in goal for the injured Alisson Becker, while the defense is likely to remain the same, with Fabinho in midfield to combat the physical presence of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Jordan Henderson is likely to return to the starting eleven, although the match may come too early for a start for Thiago Alcantara, who has played just 45 minutes this season and has just recovered from Covid-19.
One of Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita is likely to retain his place, while Mane, if he fits, will replace Diogo Jota in attack.
Liverpool XI planned: Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gómez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Bad, Firmino, Mane.
