A convicted murderer is back in court for plots to kill two of his victim’s associates in a “deadly” gang war.

Mark Fellows killed Salford criminal Paul Massey outside his home in July 2015 and was later found guilty of the attack.

Now, the 40-year-old from Warrington is being charged with carrying out two more assassination attempts that took place earlier that year.

Manchester Crown Court heard that in February 2015, Abduhl Rahman Khan was shot and injured when two masked men ran into his car and “started shooting”, while the following month Aaron Williams sustained torso injuries. , head and neck when confronted in the street by assailants dressed in ski masks and armed with bladed weapons.

Opening the case, prosecutor Jaime Hamilton QC said that both failed attempts occurred amid a “gang war” in Salford between Team A, led by a man named Stephen Britton, and Team Anti-A, led by Michael Carroll, a former associate and friend of Britton.

He said, “It was a deadly war fought with deadly intentions. At the heart of the dispute, it only mattered which side you were on.”

Peers and co-defendants Jamie Rothwell, 33, Aaron Parkin, 32, Liam Gee, 31, and Warren Barnes, 32, all owed their allegiance to the Carroll gang at the time of their alleged involvement, Hamilton said.

He said the dispute began in January 2015 when members of Team A used a chainsaw to remove the roof of a car that belonged to Carroll’s ex-girlfriend, who was also threatened.

Then, tracking devices were attached to Khan’s Mercedes vehicle and a Volkswagen Scirocco connected to Williams to track his movements, the court heard.

A series of incidents between the two gangs followed, including the fatal shooting of Massey, 55, who had previously been in the company of Khan and Britton on the day of his death.

Hamilton said Khan was attacked shortly after midnight on February 18 when four shots were fired, three of which came from the same weapon, likely a pump-action shotgun.

It said: “Mr. Khan refused to provide a formal statement. However, he spoke to a police officer when he was treated at the hospital and told him that he was sitting in his car when he saw two masked men run and start shooting.” .

A month later, on March 23, Williams was discovered bleeding on the sidewalk after being attacked with a machete, the prosecutor said.

Jurors were told that Carroll fled to Spain in August 2015 and that several members of Team A went there in early 2016 with the intention of tracking down and killing him.
