Donald Trump says he feels “really good” and will be leaving the hospital tonight after receiving treatment for coronavirus.
The President of the United States tweeted: “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 pm.” (11.30pm UK time).
“I feel really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.”
“We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really excellent drugs and knowledge. I feel better than 20 years ago!”
Trump’s doctors said he was well enough to go home, but “he may not be completely out of the woods just yet.”
The president has not had a fever in more than 72 hours and his oxygen levels are normal, they added.
“He’s back,” said Dr. Sean Conley, Trump’s personal physician, of the president’s progress, adding that he had been a “phenomenal patient.”
The president’s medical team confirmed that he had received twice as much oxygen, but now has no respiratory problems.
However, they refused to answer questions about his lung scans.
COVID-19 can cause serious damage, including pneumonia, which may be visible on such scans.
