Tributes to the young man from Southport stabbed to death in Spain

This is the young man from Southport who was found stabbed to death on a Spanish street.

Ben Nesbitt, of Woodvale, suffered fatal stab wounds early Thursday morning in the Spanish town Cuidad Quesada on the Costa Blanca.

ECHO understands that Ben’s family in Southport have been informed of his death.

Ben, believed to be 22, was well known in the Southport area.

The Efe news agency has reported that the two Britons got into a fight on a property in Ciudad Quesada near Alicante before Ben was fatally stabbed in the neck. There is no suggestion that Ben was at fault.

The incident is reported to have occurred around 3 a.m. on October 1.

Local media, such as the Spanish website The Olive Press, reported that a manhunt is now underway to find Ben’s attacker.

Tributes to Ben have now started popping up online.

One said, “Remembering nothing but the best funny memories of you. He left long before your time was such a funny little character our space raider. Fly high brother.”

Another said, “I am absolutely devastated because I know how charming you really were.”

Remembering the “shy 12-year-old boy” they once knew, the writer added, “You didn’t deserve to die in such a horrible way.”

They added: “Rest easy friend.

“I always think about you.”

ECHO has approached the Spanish police to obtain information on the murder that occurred on October 1.
