Victor Orta: Roma take aim at Leeds football director | Football news

[ad_1]

Leeds United’s Victor Orta has become one of Roma’s main targets, who are looking to appoint a new football director, according to reports from Italy.

Orta has become a key figure on Elland Road after successfully leading several recruiting drives in his role as soccer director.

He was also instrumental in appointing Marcelo Bielsa as the club’s head coach in 2018.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Orta tops a list of three shortlisted for the position at Roma, with Lille’s Luis Campos and former RB Leipzig coach Ralf Rangnick also being considered.

Orta, who started his career in Seville, joined Leeds in 2017 after a stint in Middlesbrough, and was also linked with RB Leipzig earlier in the year.

Under his leadership, Leeds have signed Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno, Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, Freiburg defender Robin Koch, Lorient goalkeeper Illan Meslier and Wigan forward Joe Gelhardt since his promotion to the Premier League.
