Some of the UK newspapers interpret the big story of the moment with a fairly blunt bat, but others draw attention to the irony of Donald Trump testing positive for coronavirus, having repeatedly downplayed the pandemic.
the me puts one of the president’s countless tweets in the center of its cover. The headline is “Covid-19 in the White House” and the February tweet reads: “The coronavirus is very under control in the United States.”
the Mail The first edition was tough on “How many did Trump put at risk?” saying the White House “denied mounting a cover-up” after the president attended a gala despite knowing that an aide had tested positive.
But that tone was noticeably softened in an updated edition to become “virus-struck Trump in the hospital” with the focus on the treatment the president is receiving.
Our guardian The cover reads “Election Chaos in America When Trump Was Hospitalized With Covid-19.” The third edition shows the president wearing a mask as he leaves the White House.
the FOOTThe wording is similar: “Trump’s positive coronavirus test throws confusion into US elections.”
the Times’ Printers also needed a plate change for the latest edition. Her opening splash was “Hopes grow for the vaccine,” about Oxford’s project to produce a jab. Later, when news spread that the president was being hospitalized, the newspaper changed to “Trump flown to hospital.”
An update also for the Telegraph that started the run with “Trump ‘will stay at work” but ended with “Trump taken to hospital.

the Quick sprinkled with what would seem like an extremely odd choice for today on any other page – Boris Johnson renewing a line dating back to before the referendum – with “PM: Brexit billions released for new hospitals.”
