More than 100 new coronaviruses have been confirmed across the city and county.
63 new cases were added to Leicester’s cumulative death toll, and another 46 people tested positive in Leicestershire.
Broken down to the district and borough level, the Charnwood toll increased the most, with 15 new cases added.
Harborough’s death toll increased by eight, and Oadby and Wigston added seven new cases. Melton’s cases increased by six.
Hinckley and Bosworth added four new cases to their ongoing toll and three cases were identified in both Blaby and North West Leicestershire.
Local figures updated at 4 pm on Friday, October 2 are:
- Leicester: 7,127 cases in total. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 2,012
- Blaby – 829 total cases – Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 816
- Charnwood – 1,223 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 658
- Harborough – 555 cases in total -. Rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 591
- Hinckley and Bosworth – 728 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 643
- Melton – 269 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 525
- North West Leicestershire – 434 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 418
- Oadby and Wigston – 764 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 1,340
In other coronavirus news, a pub in Hinckley received a closure notice ordering it to remain closed after authorities said it was not complying with a coronavirus curfew.
Bounty owners say they are appealing the notice.
