Actor Archie Lyndhurst’s mother has posted a poignant message reminding her of her “most wonderful only child” after his death at the age of 19.

Lyndhurst was known for playing Ollie Coulton on the CBBC sitcom So Awkward.

Only the Fools and Horses actor Nicholas Lyndhurst was her father.

Mom Lucy Smith wrote, “We will love him forever and a day and we are the luckiest parents to have had the most wonderful only child who has bought us nothing but joy in our lives.”

She was responding to an Instagram tribute from comedian Jack Whitehall, who described him as “passionate, generous and perfect” and “an absolute pleasure to work with.”

The young actor played a younger version of Whitehall on television, film and theater.

Smith thanked the star for “all the incredible opportunities” she had offered her son and for the “lifelong friendship” that had emerged.

“I loved every moment of every job and enjoyed the great scripts you wrote,” he added.

Lyndhurst died after a brief illness, it was announced Thursday. In a statement, his father had said that he and his wife were “completely distressed and respectfully requested privacy.”

In his tribute, Whitehall said that Lyndhurst was “loved by everyone on set” and “will never be forgotten.”

“Archie Lyndhurst came into my life almost 10 years ago, playing the young me in a short film I wrote,” Whitehall wrote with “great regret.”

“He was brilliant, very talented and funny. It was a pleasure working with him.”

Whitehall recalled how their “wonderful partnership” led them to do a parody at the London Palladium and join forces again on a sketch for their arena tour and television special.

“When we needed to find an actor to play young Alfie Wickers in Bad Education, it was the easiest casting we had to do,” he continued.

“Every time I worked with Archie, he was the same: passionate, generous and perfect, he was loved by everyone on set. I have no doubt that he would have had a long and illustrious career and would have continued to illuminate everyone’s lives. who found it. “

Whitehall went on to explain that during the lockdown, Lyndhurst had been taking groceries and groceries to his parents Michael and Hilary when they couldn’t leave the house.

“The enthusiastic and talented boy I met so many years ago had grown into an equally charming young man,” she wrote of the kind gesture. “It’s a testament to how wonderful and kind he was.”

He concluded: “The world has been stripped of a truly special soul. It will never be forgotten, I am completely devastated that he is gone, but I also feel very blessed to have known him.”
