Six areas in England have been added to the coronavirus watch list and two have been removed.
Places added to the “areas of concern” list for coronavirus They are:
- Burial mound at Furness
- Cheshire West and Chester
- East Cheshire
- Wakefield, West Yorkshire
- Rotherham. South Yorkshire
- Luton in Bedfordshire is back on the list
A spot on the watch list means restrictions could soon be considered.

Spelthorne in Surrey and Hertsmere in Hertfordshire have been removed from the watch list.
Meanwhile, Sheffield now has a more serious status as an “enhanced support area”, which means it will have access to additional resources.
Blaby in Leicestershire has been reduced from an “area of greatest support” to an “area of concern”.
The Health Department says infection levels are constantly being monitored and it is “prepared to take immediate action if epidemiological evidence shows that further action is required.”
“The restrictions will only apply for as long as they are necessary to cut transmission of the virus and protect local communities.”
When areas are added to the watch list, Public Health England will help communities take action, including targeted testing in high-risk areas and improved messages on hand washing and social distancing.
Changes to the watchlist occur on the same day as the UK registered 6,914 coronavirus cases – a slight drop the day before.
In other announcements, Turkey and Poland have been removed as travel corridors for England, which means that travelers arriving from October 4 from those countries must isolate themselves for 14 days.
