Calvert-Lewin has scored two hat-tricks for Everton this season

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in his first call-up for England after being selected for this month’s matches against Wales, Belgium and Denmark.

Harvey Barnes of Leicester and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal also receive the first calls.

Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden, who were sent home from Iceland last month after violating coronavirus quarantine guidelines, have been left out.

But Harry Maguire, who was removed from that team while facing a court case in Greece, is on the 30-man team.

Manchester United captain Maguire, 27, received a suspended prison sentence on the Greek island of Syros after being convicted of aggravated battery, resisting arrest and repeated bribery attempts.

The central maintains his innocence and has appealed the decision, which annuls the sentence.

England will play Wales in a friendly on October 8, before the Nations League matches against Belgium and Denmark on October 11 and 14 respectively, and all three matches will be played at Wembley Stadium.

Calvert-Lewin receives its first call-up from Gareth Southgate after scoring eight goals in five appearances in all competitions so far this season, including two hat-tricks.

“I am a very, very proud man to receive this first call from England,” said the 23-year-old.

“I called my mom and my dad, and my mom started crying.

“It’s something we’ve talked about since I was a child. To arrive now and receive the call is a dream come true. I am very happy.

Southgate said: “Dominic is a player whose complete game we have liked for some time. What he has added in the last 18 months are goals and for a striker it is essential.

“He’s in good shape. He deserves his chance.”
