Four men are at the center of a police hunt today after a gang beat and stamped a man who died in hospital two weeks later.

Victim Simon Whisker, 40, had to be rushed to hospital where he died 12 days after four men beat him on London Road in Croydon on July 1.

Detectives have released footage and CCTV of four men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Whisker was involved in a fight with a group that knocked him to the ground with a series of violent blows before stomping on him.

He was transferred to the hospital, treated and released, but almost two weeks later he died in the early hours of July 13.

His closest relatives have been informed of his death and a post-mortem examination has been carried out.

The case is not being treated as a murder investigation, detectives revealed.

Detectives from the Southern Area Command Unit have conducted extensive investigations, but there have been no arrests so far.

Detective Jo Cheung of the Southern Area Criminal Investigation Department said: ‘The victim was involved in an altercation with a group of men and was brutally assaulted.

‘We are not treating this as a murder investigation at this time. We just want to know who was responsible for the attack on Simon.

“I ask the public to contact us if they recognize any of these men.”
