Service restrictions have been put in place at a hospital in Wales after 82 cases of coronavirus were confirmed.
A big outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.

The hospital said that the “significant temporary restrictions to the service”, which include the suspension of the planned surgery, will be implemented from 2:00 p.m.
A statement from the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Board of Health said: “Given the extent of this outbreak, and following the advice of Public Health Wales, the Board of Health is taking a number of urgent and significant actions to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and communities. “
Royal Glamorgan Hospital is located in Rhondda Cynon Taf, which is currently in local closure.
The hospital said the Emergency Department will remain open for walk-ins and for those who can be treated in the outpatient department.
Welsh Ambulance Service patients (999) (excluding children) will be temporarily diverted to alternate sites.
Paul Mears, Executive Director of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Board of Health, said: “We recognize the concern these temporary changes will cause and we would like to assure our patients and communities that managing this outbreak is our key priority.
“Our teams continue to work to take all necessary steps to achieve this and we have taken a variety of swift and decisive actions to try to manage this outbreak, including immediate closure of affected pavilions, risk assessments of affected pavilions and in risk, reviews of infection prevention and control measures and their implementation, increased testing of health personnel and testing of all hospital admissions.
“These decisions have not been made lightly and we understand that they will affect our patients, their families, our staff and partner organizations. The 12 areas of Wales under local lockdown restrictions are: Caerphilly County District, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Cardiff, Swansea, Llanelli Town, Neath Port Talbot, Glamorgan Valley and Torfaen,
Starting Thursday at 6pm, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Wrexham, all in North Wales, will also join the list of areas under local lockdown.
On Tuesday, Public Health Wales said three other people had died of coronavirus in Wales, and 366 people tested positive.
As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, a further 7,143 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases had been recorded in the UK, the highest daily figure on record since the outbreak began, although far more tests are underway than in the spring.
Another 71 people died within 28 days of testing positive, bringing the UK total to 42,072.
