Shocking images have emerged showing a huge party in the university residences, as around 200 young people appear to break the coronavirus restrictions.
The video clip shows a party with numbers that far exceed the stipulation of the government’s ‘rule of six’ aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
Young people can be seen jumping on tables and forming a dance floor as they rave to a song among a tight crowd.
The clip was filmed at Arundel House, near the main campus of Coventry University and has been viewed more than 70,000 times, Coventry Live reports.
A spokesperson said Coventry University was aware of the incident and said any student violating the university’s code of conduct could face disciplinary proceedings.
Police said an agreement had been reached to close some common areas in the accommodation and to tighten security in light of last night’s meeting.

An investigation is also underway to determine if the party was planned.
In the 37-second long video, the crowd joins in on Digga D’s song lyrics as revelers jump onto tables to lead the party, and a man’s pants fall off.
The iPhone clip, which has been viewed thousands of times on Twitter, is titled “Don’t Sleep in the VOC” and was marked at 3:06 am on Tuesday, September 29.
One user replied, “He was at someone’s accommodation and security told them to move him to the common room.”
The ‘rule of six’ currently applies in indoor and outdoor settings, and the police can disperse gatherings by exceeding this number and fine those involved.
University Living, a platform that finds student accommodation, including at Arundel House, said of the clip: “We’re not quite sure if there is any truth to it. [the video footage].
“We are investigating it and are in constant contact with our hosting partners to better understand what is happening there.

“We would like to clarify here that we do not tolerate such activity in any way, so we have also reached out to our student community to help clear things up.
“We also want to mention here that our accommodation partners are doing their best to ensure a safe environment for their students and staff.”
A statement issued by Coventry University said: “We are aware of an incident in a private accommodation block that was captured on video that has been shared online.
“We are deeply concerned by the video footage and strongly condemn the flagrant violations of the rule of six and other guidelines, as they put the health of our students, colleagues and the communities in which we are located at risk.
“We have introduced a code of conduct for students and shared it widely with them before the weekend.
“This code of conduct makes it clear that failure to comply with the university and government health, safety and welfare requirements will constitute a violation of the university’s disciplinary rules and may be treated as a matter of misconduct.
“If anyone involved in the video is found to be a Coventry University student and violates the code of conduct, we will take the necessary action.

“The vast majority of our students are sensitive adults and are taking the coronavirus very seriously.
“Many of them come from the communities in which our campuses are located and want to protect themselves, their friends and loved ones. Hundreds of our students in health courses worked in NHS wards and ambulances during the peak of the pandemic. .
“At our five campuses, we have implemented security measures in accordance with government advice and we are in constant dialogue with local public health officials and other agencies and universities.

A Coventry police spokesman said: “We attended Arundel House today (September 29) following reports of a large student gathering in the early hours of this morning. Around 200 people are believed to have been present in a common room.
“We will examine CCTV and take action if evidence comes to light that it was a planned party.
“We have contacted the management of the student accommodation block and they have agreed to close some common areas and increase security.
“We have also organized a safer student booth at Arundel House tomorrow to reiterate Covid-19 regulations and the consequences if those regulations are breached.”
